Date Jar is designed with privacy in mind and does not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) from users. All your dating ideas, achievements, and relationship data remain private on your device.

  • Location Data: Only when you grant permission, we may access your general location to provide weather-based date suggestions. This data is not stored or transmitted.

Data stored locally on your device:

  • Date ideas you create and manage
  • Completion history and statistics
  • Achievement progress
  • App settings and preferences
  • Streak information

2. How We Use Your Information

The information collected is solely used to:

  • Enhance and improve Date Jar’s functionality and user experience
  • Provide weather-appropriate date suggestions when location permission is granted
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve app performance and features
  • Fix bugs and optimize performance for a smooth relationship-building experience
  • Ensure app compatibility across different devices and iOS versions

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal relationship data to outside parties. Your dating ideas, achievements, and relationship statistics remain completely private on your device.

Anonymous usage data may be shared with third-party analytics services to help us better understand how the app is used and improve functionality. These third parties are obligated to keep information secure and confidential and cannot access your personal dating content.

4. Weather and Location Services

When you choose to use weather-based date suggestions:

  • Location data is only accessed when you grant permission
  • Location information is used solely to fetch current weather conditions
  • We do not store, transmit, or share your location data
  • You can disable location access at any time in your device settings
  • The app remains fully functional without location permissions

Date Jar may contain links to third-party sites or services, such as restaurant recommendations or activity websites. These third-party services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or terms of use.

6. Data Security

We implement standard security measures to protect your data. Your relationship information is stored locally on your device using iOS’s built-in security features, including device encryption and app sandboxing. However, please be aware that no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

  • All your dating data is stored locally on your device
  • You can delete all app data at any time using the “Reset All Data” feature in Settings
  • Uninstalling the app will permanently remove all your dating ideas and progress
  • We do not retain any copies of your personal dating content on external servers

8. Children’s Privacy

Date Jar is intended for couples and individuals in romantic relationships, typically ages 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us to have it addressed.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Use the app without providing location access
  • Reset all your data at any time through the app settings
  • Control haptic feedback and other interaction preferences
  • Opt out of anonymous usage analytics by adjusting your device’s privacy settings

10. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it’s used. Since Date Jar stores data locally and collects minimal anonymous usage data, most CCPA provisions do not apply to our data practices.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal compliance. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the “Last updated” date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes are effective when they are posted.
